Question:

Should I separate my parakeets?

I have two female parakeets that I got a year ago. They have always had little fights here and there but lately it has gotten worse. They bite each other nonstop and they cannot stand to be on the same perch with each other. Today one of them grabbed onto the other one's wing and would not let go. Should I separate them?

  1. yes, you should definately seperate them.

  2. Yes,

you should keep them seperated for about 2-3 days. If you have another bird cage, put them side by side so atleast they can see each other. When its time try to put them back together and if they still fight just keep them seperated.

    hope this helps =D

  3. It depends on what you think. Sometimes they will fight and it will be best to separate them. Sometimes it's a "this is my place" fight and it can get brutal and they get over it eventually and get along fine. Does it seem like an I like don't like you fight (whenever they get near they peck or squack) or a get out of here fight (always pecking or squacking and fighting). If it's a get out of here fight, don't seperate them, it can be extremely stressful and can someetimes kill them, if it's an i don't like you fight, take the younger one and move it to a different cage.

  4. Yes you did the wrong thing of not seprate them!!! 2 girl parkeets are not suppose to be in the same cage together.......now they are going to be depend on eachother with everything!!! Just seprate them in 2 different cage's in the same room and it will worl! ;)

  5. yes you should before it becomes fatal.  They might have become terretorial it is more common in males but it happens with females to.
