  1. show jumping is a lot more fun

  2. you could try eventing as it has dressage and jumping in it...

Also you need dressage basics for show jumping

  3. i personaly love showjumping and cross country, i am good at dressage but i get bored quickly.... go for showjumping :D

  4. Why not do one week dressage, one week jumping.  That way neither you or your horse will get bored.  Dressage is vital, though often dismissed in helping a smoother ride in showjumping.  It is so nice to hear that you want to do dressage.

I would love to do it, but I do not have the legs - or a horse to practice on, so it is out of the question for the time being.  It does help to have a horse you know!!

  5. My trainer always said that "jumping is dressage with jumps in between" do both they are intertwined anyway... you'll be a better jumper with a good dressage foundation and do some combined tests that's the best of both worlds and if your feeling ambitious start schooling x-country and event! Have fun!

  6. its really up 2 u but in my opinion i LOVE jumping... u get a thrill in show jumping that u just dont get in dressage. its like a rush of excitement.. in dressage its good and can be exciting AT TIMES but its just not as... but again its ur choice! hope this helps u!

  7. It's really up to you- which do you enjoy doing more, and which are you more confident doing?

I prefer showjumping- I just love to jump and so does my horse!

I've always loved watching dressage, and I'd like to be able to do it, and I hate to admit it but I get kinda fed up doing flatwork all the time...!

  8. There's no reason why you can't do both, to be a show jumper you and your horse have to be good at dressage, and showjumping can help with dressage as well, do what you enjoy, and if you enjoy both of them, do both of them.

  9. You could do three-day eventing, but I'm assuming you want a single discipline. Dressage can be intertwined into any other discipline. You can learn a lot from both disciplines, but I would do dressage.

  10. personally, i like the look of dressage, and many people say it is ballet for horses. but i need action in my life, so i love show-jumping. i may try xc some dy as well.

but get a friend who is also experienced to judge you on how well you do in each discipline. you could either go for the one which your are best at, or the one in which you need to develop more.

  11. hiya

show jumping is alot more fun but more risk taking if you get me. i would do dressage . tha is what i want to do

  12. you should do showjumping.

but you don't have to showjump at home because most eventers work on the flatwork more than jumping don't they. so you could do dressage at home but do showjumping competing?

well what do you think your horse is better at?

  13. show jumping all the way as it can be done all year round and is more exciting than boring dressage - plus its more rewarding- i love it

  14. I think show jumping and dressage are both very good. You just have to be sure what you are doing, but i think i like more dressage be cause you can learn more from it than the show jumping. We give you help here, but you are the one who has to choose.Just listen your heart:)

  15. Personally I would choose jumping, definitely, as there are generally a lot more competitions for it! My horse isn't really suited to Dressage tho :)

Have you heard of one-day-eventing? You can take your horse to your local riding club and you have three competitions - one dressage, one cross-country jumping and one showjumping! That way you get the best of both worlds :)

    Hope that helps x

  16. I'd do dressage as jumping can hurt the horse if you do it too much

  17. Either is fine . Look at the difference first. Try taking lessons in both and see what you like. You might like dressage better then show jumping . You never know. I do hunter/jumper and some flat work on wensdays and thursdays and to be truth full jumoing is MY thing ..it may not be YOURS.

    good luck

  18. There is no reason you can't do both if you enjoy doing them.  In order to be sucessful in jumping your flat work needs to be solid.
