Question:

Should I slit the corn snake eggs to help the babies get out?

My corn snake eggs began to pip at aprox between 9am and 1pm yesterday. The first one that piped has now come completely out of the egg, and another piped around 9pm and is still there, when I checked this morning another had slit the egg, but there are still two that haven't slit the eggs.

My question is should I help them by silting the eggs because it has been 18- 20 hours since the first baby piped?

Also the two that have shown themselves are a dark purple brown colour with white markings, does anyone know what type of corn this would be. The Mother is a snow corn and the farther a Motley corn I think?

Anyone help??

  1. No, you should never do that as much as it may seem helpful. I've seen one corn snake egg hatch 2 weeks after it's siblings and it was un-harmed. You should just watch and wait. They will come out eventually. Make sure that you check the temp/humidity in the incubator that your keeping the eggs in. That could play a role in when they hatch. Good luck with them!

  2. Noooo!!

  3. NO!  let nature takes it's course.

  4. no

  5. Just let them come out on their own it helps them become stronger.

  6. You could have slit them before it was the due date to hatch but it isnt very much recommended. Some breeders snip their eggs 2 or 3 days before the hatch date they set, they do this so none of the snakes drown in the yolk which they can but is highly likely. Its to late to do so anyway because they're all hatching, and i wouldnt do it if you arent expirenenced.

Some eggs hatch faster than others. Just leave your eggs alone and they'll hatch out them selves. They're fine, you just have to be patient about it.

Good luck with the babies! =)

  7. Do not slit them. Let it be natural, they will come eventually.
