Should I start kiteboarding? I am a 16 year old girl?

I have pretty much mastered using my dad's small trainer kite (he kiteboards) and I am experienced at skimboarding as well. Often I "kite-skim" with a trainer kite and skimboard and can go for quite a while and actually steer and control it pretty well. But I am kind of scared of the HUGE kites involved for kiteboarding (especially after seeing my dad being dragged away with our little trainer kite ;))

It looks like a lot of fun, I really want to take a lesson.

Should I try it? I've noticed that there aren't many girls doing it, will it be safe for a 16 year old girl to handle it (I am only like 107 lbs also)

  1. Yes, if you feel that you should give it a go, nothing is stopping you!

You should get a trainer first, some days the ocean could turn rough instantly, and you could be in danger, so please get training before you quickly start getting 'out there'.

Good luck though, glad you're doing something not a lot of teenagers would be up for.

  2. I am 15 and 130lbs and i do it. You should go for it

  3. Way to go, Miso!  I can't imagine doing stuff like that.  There is kiteboarding near where we live, and we stop and watch them and take pictures.

I say go for it!  I don't think 16 is too young, you won't be that much bigger when you're 18.  I'm enjoying just -thinking- about you skimming over the waves on a kiteboard.

  4. if you want to. then sure go for it

  5. yea, take the chance, why not? its fun isnt it?

  6. i think alot of fun sports are always dangerous. Go for it!
