Ok...so i started playing in the 8th grade but i quit this year because i didnt make the team at my high school (because i was too short =[ lol ) i tried fall season club but that didnt work out...

Now i wanna get back to playing...im 15 and probably won't start playing until next year since tryouts for club are over.

My lifes like not complete without volleyball lol but it seems impossible to start again. and its kinda embaressing to see my old coaches and teammates since i didnt make it =[

i dont know if i should bother playing again? or just quitting and forgetting it?

  1. Hey go for it, you've got nothing to lose. If you really love the sport and if you're dedicated then you should really go for it. And  you'll probably get your game back once you start training again..

  2. if u want and i swear im not being mean or trying to but it sounds like 1) its just not ur sport or 2) u dont have enough experience and by HS, even MS its to late.

  3. go for it girlfriend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. nothing is impossible coz the word itself says "I'm possible". go for it!!!!

  5. The worst possible thing that could happen is you fail.  What if you do make it?  I'm sure if you work really hard in strength and skill trainnig you will improve tremendously.  Get with some of the teamates and practice afterschool with them, get back comfortable with volleyball again and you'll do just fine.  And if your not really complete without it, why should you give up.  When you love something, you fight for it, no matter what.

  6. if you're life's not complete without volleyball, then u should play again. try out, u never know, u might make the team. good luck :)

  7. hey, i'm short too and i made my high school team! don't give up on yourself! you know, it won't hurt to start playing again. if anything, you might improve and be better than all your friends =O so just give it a shot. don't let anything bring you down. not even embarassment! trust me. i've had so many embarassing things happen to me while playing. you just gotta put those things in the past and keep moving on =)

  8. well if you wanna play, play it! who cares what they think it only matters what you think!

  9. if you like it do it

    trust me

  10. no!!...

this is my advice for u..

if u luv something go for it..

    dont think negative things..

    ok??..

    like,, u luv volleyball..

    go for it..

and actually, short people are better than tall people..

they just get in the team cuz they are tall..

    thats my opinion..

    just go for it..

    ok??.

    good luck!!..

    =)

  11. you should definetely go for it again! try looking for some volleyball clinics, or camps! and since camps are going to fill up fast, you'll be definetely in one of the camps! it's never to late to try something you love! and if you love volleyball then freaking go for it! and i know it sucks, cause now you;re not like doing anything! which is totally boring, but try looking for some open courts or something and start practicing for next year!

    good luck!

  12. u should always try 2 get involved...it doens't matter if u r really good or not....if u have good spirit and r somewhat decent then u should try!!your high school team can only take so many people and there r a lot of club teams...so try out 4 a lot of club teams...u r bound 2 make at least one..and if ur team isn't olympic material?...who cares..if u r having fun than keep doing it

  13. DONT be embarresed around ur coaches etc.... work on ur game when u come back they will see that u are determined to be on the team... plus if u get better... u can be lyk look wat u gave up=).......  KEEP TRYING IF U RLY<3 VB LYK I DO U WOULDNT STOP TILL U  GET IT

  14. yes! you should absolutely play only if you want it though because someone that really wants to make the team and play volleyball wouldnt have quit just because they didnt make the team so definitely go for it if you want it (but because you are just thinking about not trying out because you are not sure if you are going to make it and you quit because you didnt make it does not have me convinced that you want it) do you see where i am coming from? if you really wanted to play and make the team and you really loved it you would play no matter what. also coming from someone that has seen people that dont want it, it gets really annoying and nobody wants someone on their team that isnt going to give it there all because they didnt make the varsity or A  team. So seriously only go for it if it is something you absolutely want and wont quit if you dont make it

By the way: your height does not matter that much in volleyball (although many times it is helpful) at my school only about 3 people are actually that tall that made the varsity the rest of them are pretty short but they are good and the varsity coach is also only about 4'11 and that is really short and she played an outside hitter through high and she is way good

  15. of course

  16. If you want to start playing volleyball again, go for it! I'm on my school volleyball team and love it! Volleyball is my favorite sport and so much fun to play! If you start again, I'm sure you will have lots of fun playing volleyball as you improve if you put some effort into it. My suggestion is starting volleyball again, and if you really don't like it, just quit. It's understandable that it would be difficult for you to start again and stick with it, but I'm sure you will be able to do it!

  17. I would practice practice practice all of your off season & show up at school and club tryouts next year & show them your skill. I would just go out as hard as I possibly could. I think if they don't think you're quite good enough, they will at least admire your perserverance & persistance. just keeping working your butt off & show them what you can do & how you do it. work on being a libero cus they're short.

  18. You should find other ways of playing volleyball --- even if it is just friends having a hit with a volleyball somewhere - anywhere is better than nowhere.

For your main and short holidays - why not plan something in advance? Just make sure you have a practice volleyball with you - anytime you're out and about - with time on your hands. You can even practice by yourself, just by finding a wall and room to spike against the wall. A cheap practice ball can be used anywhere on any surface - you never do that with an expensive indoor volleyball. But if you practice in your local area --- maybe you'll find others who like to join in? or are keen to learn?

Try to find some open gyms or where some social volleyball is played? If you love it, never give up on it....

  19. if you really want to...go for it!

i stopped playing a sport because of my schedule-i didn't have enough time for it. but after i quit i missed it soooo much. and yea...it felt like i was incomplete without it! i know what you mean.

but i started playing again with an intramural team since the school sport had already begun.

i had a blast! i know you won't regret it if you start playing again. =) good luck.
