Question:

Should I start to let my cat have two homes

The problem is if I want to go on holiday. My daughter likes my cat so I was thinking of taking my cat to her for two Weeks then bringing her back. Transferring the cat between two homes all the time.

Then the cat should accept both homes as her own and going away would be no problem.

  1. We go away all the time but make sure there is someone who can come in each day to feed and water or cat, she steys on her own jest fine, she does tend to sharpen her claws on the wall paper, but its a small price to pay as she would would hate to go to another persons house or a cattery, she is very nervous,  hpe this helps, have a great holiday.

  2. Cats often do try to get back home but at your daughters house put something on her paws like butter or icecream and she will spend ages l*****g it off and they get used to their surroundings, worked with my mums cats

  3. Depends if your cat is a house cat or not, if it is there shouldn't really be any problem - my cat is a house cat and she loves going to stay with her grandma! But think it would be more difficult if your cat gets outside as there is a bigger chance of it wandering off or getting into trouble.

So to sum up - house cat - fine no probs - outdoors cat prob not such a good idea.  Can your daughter not stay at yours when you're on holiday?

  4. i know from experience that the cat will be just fine, i did this with my cat as i have have my own home yet spend a few weeks at a time at my boyfriends so to simplify things i took the cat back and fore with me, as long as the cat is given a day or two to settle in each house again before being let out he'll be fine

  5. It is not a good idea, your cat would not get used to moving between homes and would get confused and unstable. Also, it would attempt to go back to your home, no matter how far it is.

    Hope this helps =]

  6. well..im not a cat expert..but cats dont like to be moved around to much, it unsettles them... i would suggest your daughter come to yours and stay for the 2 weeks and look after it.. but thats a bit inconvinient if she works and lives far away. if you do take it to your daughters, i would suggest not letting it outside while its there as it could try to run away and get lost as it doesnt no the house very well.

cats are fine by themselfs as long as they are fed and all is there a neighbour that u trust to pop in and feed it and give it a fuss every so often???

if your only option is to take the cat to your daughters then it shouldnt be too bad.. just as long as your not swapping its house every month or anything.  it will get back to normal soon enough
