Should I stay in cozumel?

Hi, I wanted to know if it is worth it at all to stay in cozumel? I was considering staying there for one day while I was in Mexico, what do you guys think? Would it be better for me to just stay in Cancun? Are the beaches worth it enough to make the trip from Cancun or are the beaches the same and prices the same at both locations.

I had a stop in Cozumel when on a cruise, and it was totally gross and nasty. Other people may have had better experiences than I did - but I think that you're better off staying in Cancun.

I travel to Mexico quite a bit

Cozumel I went for a wekk due to my sister has a place there.It's really for divers.the beach was not the best .It is a good short stop over from Playa del carmen by ferry (but don't waste yor time staying their overnight .Not a lot of activities either.I would suggest cancun if you want nightlife and things to do

If you want georgous beaches that are long I suggest the mayan riviera and especially Barcelo .We stay in the myan riviera and rent a car and drive into playa and cancun when we want

If its just a lower price your looking for then Cancun

The benefit in Cozumel is diving.  The second largest reef in the world is right off of there.  Palancar reef.  Even if you do dive, I'd stay put in Cancun and explore from there.  There are incredible places to go from Cancun...  Xcaret, Xel-ha, Tulum, Copa (Coba, can't remember the spelling)  One of our favorites is to go to zip-lining at Selvatica.  Afterwards you go swimming in a senote'.  Love it.  Also, if you're in Cancun.  DO NOT pass up dinner at Le' Distileria in the hotel zone on Boulevard Kukulcán Km. 12.5.  It is fabulous.  Don't miss the cinnamon ice cream crepes.  yummmm   We do not miss it.  (by the way..  we own a place in Cancun and go every year in April  - am counting down the days as I type..  )  :-)
