Question:

Should I stay in real estate as a part time sales agent?

If I take 12 online credit courses and work a part time job, would it be pointless to stay in real estate or could I still make some money. I have no money for marketing so I need a job. Also, my husband's income right now is not enough to keep us afloat.

  1. Consider joining a real estate team. Often, responsibilities will be divided up, and you won't need money for marketing.

However, if your family is in a negative cash flow situation, you need some way to either reduce costs or increase income.

  2. study the specifics of being a buyer's agent since for the first time

in 25 yrs, buyer's are in charge!   NEVER be a dual agent, regardless

of its being acceptable legally.  ONE slip and you are sunk!

and maybe investigate commercial, or land or or other areas......

    think creatively!

  3. Real estate has always been a tough business to be in, regardless of the good times or bad times. Working part-time probably won’t pay the bills in today’s market. Unless you focus your efforts to a specific niche and have a good working relationship with a Broker who is willing to share opportunities with you, it’s probably not a good idea. Regardless if you are in it full or part-time, the best marketing you can do for yourself is to network, network, and network. Networking  is very cost effective and most the productive in my opinion, after all it cost's next to nothing to speak with anyone and everyone you come into contact with about what you do.  (Ever consider rentals?)

  4. It sounds like you aren't making any full time, how would part time be better?

  5. Without marketing, it will be difficult to grab customers. Are you qualified in finding a full time position in another field? Since it's clear that income is not enough, then you probably need a full time job now.
