Well, I am Army prior service and I wan to get back. I haven't decided which brand yet NG or Reserves....Ng has a lot of money for college but htey get deploy a lot more than the reserves....as for the Reserves they only have $4500 for TA (TA don't cover books).

Anyways I spoke with the NG recruiter this morning and he has a 68P slot open about 90 miles form were I live plus if I get this job I dont get my bonus/$10,000.

If I stay with my MOS 68J I get the bonus!!! I really do not what to do becasue form what I heard 68P in the civilian world you make good money.....I tried to look for jobs as a 68J but it sucks they pay you like 7 to 8 bucks an hour!!

Do you guys think is worth to give up my bonus and make up the money later on when I get a part time job as an x-ray tech ...welll that's if I get the job!!

I REALLY NEED HELP PLEASEEEEE!!!!!

O by the way they are also offering me a 68W Combat Medic with a $7500 bonus!!

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!

  1. If you want to get out of the military with only soldier exerience do med supply, if you wan to go in and be pretty much a civilian go x-ray tech at this job you will get paid more when you get out also. But if you want to have stories and be a little more hardcore go 68 w that's what I am and its a combat medic you will also be a nationally registered EMT. So if you get out you can join an ambulance squad.

  2. i know a lot of x-ray techs that where prior service and they said the AIT coursework that you go thru 56 weeks the certifications you get shave 5 yrs of civilain coursework their co workers had to take plus most start off making 55K a year out the gate compared to civilians who start at 40K a year

  3. Hey I am going reserves and i have 68P guarranteed in my contract. also i am receiving a lot of bonuses for sighing up.  you are prior service you should get a bonus regardless for resiging and yes 68P make a lot of money my mother is a director of nurses so yea go that way and make your recruiter give you a bonus.

  4. Bonues run out, knowledge is forever.  That said, xray tech generally demand a better income than supply though depending on who u work for, supply can mean so many things.

So, what appears to work better for xay tech is education, training and experience.  Odd are working in favor of this MOS will pay you more dividends in the end.

heh, I just saw combat medic.  They are great for the army but that MOS in iteself will get you no more than an EMT job on the outside.  I think, and I may be wrong here, going through at least part of the combat medic course is part of the xray tech cirriculum.  If it's not, no worries because xray techs are better positioned on the health care pay scales.

I was a medic, now a nurse.  I've seen it all, really.

Either way, you get to go to Fort Sam Houston, TX, the best place to have a good time while in the military :)

    Good Luck

...consider the bonuses payment for better eduction.  Don't worry about a petty few grand that will likely be earned immediately.
