Question:

Should I still go skiing even though I hurt my knee 2 weeks ago?

I bruised my knee area 2 weeks ago when I fell off a horse. There was a big bruise and no visible swelling. It doesn't really hurt when I walk/jog but it is extremely tender if I touch it. There is a ski trip I am planning to attend on thursday and I am wondering if my knee is in good enough shape for skiing. I probably would take it easy and just do the blue squares and lay off on the blacks. Help/advice? Any tips on how to speed up healing would be welcome as well.

  1. I had a minor knee injury last year and I went to the doctor. He examined it closely and then told me to resume my running schedule and push it hard to see if it would give. It didn't and I was OK.

I would say give it a vigorous work out and if it is OK go on your trip. Just take it easy when you first get out on the slopes.

  2. what about using a leg brace they work.I injured myself jan 2007 and i had to use ones of these......i still felt a little pain but in general it worked.

2 wks is not alot of time to allow the knee to heal tho.

    good luck

  3. It doesnt sound too serious, but I would take it easy and if it starts to be more than sore I would get off the slopes

  4. It's probably just bruised. Sounds like you didn't twist it or do anything that would strain/ sprain it. I think you're fine. Go skiing and enjoy it. Make the best of the trip. If it hurts when you are on the hill then back off. I tore my acl a couple years ago and had bone rubbing on bone so bad that it was all chipped off. I had surgery that summer and was on the hill early that season.

  5. I'd say don't even worry about going on blacks, it shouldn't matter. When you're skiing it may help to wrap something around it so its not too vunerable. It should not stop you from skiing
