First off I joined track this summer for the first time in my life. I'm a 15 year old freshman. well on tuesday I went to practice and we did a lot of stuff that i'm not used to so my legs are really really sore. Well now it's Thursday and I have track practice again, should I go or wait until Monday when my legs will feel better? Thanks

  1. that happened to me too when i joined last spring. i was used to the 8th grade work out and not the hard high school work out :P. anwyays, i went to every practice no matter how sore i was. however, i kept doing the work outs and stop and rest ONLY when i got really bad pain in shins or sometimes butt (which is rarely! xP) hahaha.....so i did this and in a few weeks i rarely got sore legs or shin splints. It's tough running w/ sore legs, but i suggest you still go to practice or you'll never get better! :) oh and if your legs hurt like you can't even walk, then you should tell your coach.

  2. the soreness is because of a lactic acid build up which is the product of anaerobic exercise - you arent getting enough oxygen to keep up with the energy you are burning.  the only way to get rid of the soreness is to either stop working out or getting your muscles and lungs in better shape to keep up with what you are putting you body through.

  3. Just go,but be sure to tell your coach that you are sore and physically can not do anything intense.

Your coach will probably send you on an easy run to allow the lactic acid that is giving you pain to cycle out of your system.

Of course if you coach is a crazy person then I recommend that you do for a very easy run at a park with either grass or trails. Because if you are as sore as you say then you really need to let that lactic acid out of you system.

And don't forget to strech, do drills, and maybe massage out your legs and feet.

    Good luck on your decision

  4. You will be fine. Just stretch alot and ice your legs down. Bu continue running unless you have a serious injury. Your legs right now are just trying to get into shape!

  5. No, you should deffenetly go or you will not get any better and the work out you did before will be wasted. Running again will make your legs feel better cause you get to streach them out ans move them around alot.

  6. No go to practice the only way your legs will be less sore is if you get them use to working in a different way then never before
