Question:

Should I study Business Studies at A level?

After being very happy with my GCSE results the other day (10 A's-C's including an A in English Literature, a B in English language and a B in Maths.) My gut instinct is to study 3 a levels- English Lit and Lang combined, Geography (I got a C in this) and possibly Business Studies which is new to me as I have never studied it before (However in the Prospectus it states it is not necessary to have studied it)

I was just wondering what Business Studies is like and whether I would like it.

I would be grateful for any replies and advice because I really need it.

  1. Business Studies is regarded by many universities as a 'soft' subject and isnt as high regarded as say Chemistry or History.

Business Studies AS is really easy, well i managed an A with no lessons on it, just as an extra AS. Though i cant comment on A2 level.

Its definetely a different subject than your typical GCSE subjects, however consider something like Economics which is taken seriously by universities and similiar to business studies yet more rounded.

  2. Could be useful if you intend to enter job market after completing AL; whereas if you intend to pursue further education at U-Level, Liberal Studies would be an ideal choice if it is offered in your school as the subject encompasses several disciplines and could help you with the choice of any related fields at University!
