Question:

Should I study for my General Technical on the ASVAB if I got a 88 overall on the practice test?

My recruiter is taking me tomorrow to San Diego to take the ASVAB. I am hoping for a future in Special Forces or Recon as a medic. I am Graduating early from high school, the hard way, through college, not that GED bull. And I am an expert at martial arts, who runs 4 miles daily with a weighted backpack. I understand I need at least 110 on the GT and 98 on the Combat Operational to qualify. Is this a ridiculously high score that only those born geniuses can hope to achieve or is it a good possibility for someone with the background that I hold?

  1. Look, I never took the practice test and snagged a 96 on the real ASVAB. Recruiters say that scores above a 44 on the test usually come out higher on the real thing. If your looking at scores in the high 80, low 90 range you should be good to go. Just relax, it's mostly common sense. And Good Luck!

  2. Studying wouldn't hurt.
