Today I used my credit card to pay 97 Cents for coffee at Tim Hortons but when I looked at the receipt it said $97!! Then when I asked for my money back both the cashier and the manager (on the phone) said they couldn't give it to me and just walked away, in the end I had to call the cops and they had to come and force her to give me my money back, and even when the cops came she said that her manager told her not to do anything and that I had to come back tomorrow if I wanted my money back (but the cops forced her to give it back to me in the end) can I/should I sue?

  1. Typically when you use a credit card, the only way to get your "money" back is to reverse the charge on the card and sometimes that takes a few days for the credit to appear.  Law enforcement can't really do anything about getting your money back other than making sure they reversed the charge.  It may be different if it was a check/debit card.

  2. sue for what?

you have signed on the receipt of 97 dollars

how can you prove that you took products worth of 97 cents only?

i think you were lucky to even get ur money back

  3. Almond is right. Oh, and next time look at the register, look at things before you sign, and go to a place with better coffee.

  4.   h**l yeh you should sue these people are idiots. If this machine glitches again it could cause familys in horrible money problems to be sent to prison. Sue and charge them with stealing if you dont maybe your family member or me or some other people to get this happen to them and then what? They probally wouldn't notice and just leave.

  5. If you received your money back, then you have no bases to sue.

  6. If you got your money back then I see no grounds for litigation. Remember, it costs money to sue someone. Even in Small Claims court the cost to issue a statement of claim is close to $100.00.

My advice, let it go. It's not worth the cost, time and effort.

  7. ACCORDING TO THE LAW YOU'VE BEEN MADE WHOLE. NO JUDGE WOULD FIND IN YOUR FAVOR. AND YOU WOULD END UP LOSING MONEY FOR COURT COSTS AND THE TIME YOU SPEND PURSUING THIS IS TIME YOU WILL NEVER GET BACK. USE YOUR TIME FOR SOMETHING YOU ENJOY.AND SERIOUSLY USING A CREDIT CARD FOR A 97 CENT PURCHASE. WHAT WHERE YOU THINKING? GOOD LUCK!
