  2. Causes are run by people. People are screwed up, messy, selfish, egomaniacal, piles of emotional baggage. Rather than supporting a cause, why not just try to make a difference (no matter how small) in your own neighborhood?

  3. No.  PETA sucks!

  4. ill tell you what to believe

  5. I am an animal advocate, but I do NOT support PETA. I have read too many articles about the insane things PETA does, including burning down a research lab with the animals still inside. Here is one article about how many animals PETA kills a year. http://www.petakillsanimals.com/

I do believe their insider investigations are full of information the general public needs to know. It's awful what they have found on some large dairy farms, chicken and turkey farms. I still feel they do more harm than good.

  6. PETA does do great things for animal rights, but they also do some very extreme and uncalled for things. A lot of websites you come across will be slander in both directions. It's your choice what you're going to support, but either way, everyone is in the wrong, animal killers and PETA.

  7. The best way to help animal welfare is to volunteer at the human society or directly donate funds to them. PETA is an extremest group that has destroyed millions of dollars worth of research in the name of animal welfare. It's sickening that the people that support PETA do no know of their other unlawful forms of protest. They have killed more animals in their care than your local kill shelter percentage wise. Please do research before you join any sort of group, especially PETA.

  8. NO.  According to reports,  PETA does destroy animals left in their trust.  Do more research.

  9. I don't. PETA has the right idea, but they really go overboard and actually kill more animals than they save. They found one petsmart or petco or whatever that didn't take care of their animals and now they tell us to distrust all chain pet stores. It's ridiculous, because i have witnessed first-hand that petsmart does care for their animals.

  10. Did you ever hear about the incident where they let hundreds of domesticated ferrets out of the cages and almost every single one was run over on the highway? Do you want to be with a bunch of hypocrites who say you shouldn't have pets but actually have pets themselves? Do you want to support a bunch of cat and dog killers? They also smothered a bunch of kittens once in their death van. Don't support them. They're up to no good.

  11. For my senior research paper in high school, I chose the topic of animal rights and was able to further research and look into the practices of the PETA organization. After looking into it, I do not support PETA.

I am all for the right of animals to live comfortably with proper housing, sanitation, diet, etc. And I highly support organizations that are formed to help animals, such as the ASPCA. However, PETA goes beyond trying to help animals.

While their ideas may seem reasonable on the surface, PETA is very extreme in their beliefs. They don't support the breeding of animals at all, even reputable, registered animal breeders. They don't support animal testing. They don't support owning animals. And from what I have researched, they go to extremes to make up problems that don't even exist.

One case that has been in the news recently is about Eight Belles, the horse that developed a fatal injury and had to be euthanized on the track at the Kentucky Derby. PETA jumped all over this situation, claiming that Eight Belles broke her ankles in the middle of the race, but that she continued to the end because the jockey beat her mercilessly around the track with his whip. I ride horses and I can tell you flat out- as soon as a horse breaks TWO of their legs, they're going down. You can beat them all you want, but there's no way they'd be able to even stand, let alone finish a race. There is a lot more to the story about what PETA wants to do about it, but my point is that they make up false claims to pull animal-loving people in.

In my opinion, PETA may have started out as a helpful, honest organization. But they have since become so extreme about their beliefs that it's incredible to believe and it's becoming contradictory.

They say animals should not be used as meat. But what do you think they feed their pet dogs? They say animal testing is cruel and inhumane. Well, the practices may be...but it not only helps humans but also develops into medical advances for those animal species too.

So overall, I do not agree with PETA. I think they are a very extreme, ridiculous organization. And as others have stated, there is a lot of evidence against them

You can support whatever organizations you choose. But if you love and support animals, I think you would be better off supporting your local rescue organizations instead! :)

  12. i kinda support peta. not fully though. i support them helping animal and stopping kfc from how they treat their chickens. you should be flexible and suupport only the things you believe. i am a christian and i am flexible still!

    :)

  13. I don't really get it. How can they be nice and have animal rights, and then kill them. I think I'm gonna ask a question about PETA.

  14. I personally do not support PETA because I am a Christian and PETA is totally opposite of what the Bible says.

  15. well first off, don't belive the internet! you already knew that peta helps animals, "petakillsanimals.com" is just some website that a 40 year old made because he was bored! please do join peta because they do really good thing to help animals!

  16. Hi Laurin,

I, like you, was a huge supporter of PETA until I began to read more about some of their very over the top policies and agendas.  I saw an eye-opening exposure of what PETA really is doing on HBO a few weeks ago and I was even more disappointed. I have to tell you that the program was extremely difficult to watch. You might find it repeated sometime.

Some of the things that they do are on the edge of being fanatical. Their views about people "owning" pets as being cruel  and somehow belittling them, is incomprehensible to me. According to PETA no one should ride horses, or participate in cat or dog shows either.

I looked at the site you posted and some of this I have been hearing for a long time. In fact one of their "volunteers" would visit vet's offices alledgedly going to find homes for the cats in the clinic that needed adoption, but euthanized them after taking them from the vet's clinic, and disposing them in a dumpster. This was well documented.

You can read more about PETA's philosophy by visiting:

There are so many ethical animal welfare programs that need support. They are sane and sound organizations. Support your local shelter once you learn their policies, and as far as Nationally based organizations, there is HSUS, ASPCA, and many others, but make sure you check them out.

Here is a list of organization, but it does include PETA, which concerns me.

Hope this helps and I think you are totally right in your first conclusion.
