Question:

Should I switch classes?

I'm really floundering on this one and I need some outside help. Here's the deal: I am a senior in high school and I signed up originally for AP Literature, but over the summer decided I wanted an easier schedule this year because last year was insanely HARD! I took AP Comp last year and it was a challenge, but I got an A in it. Right now I'm in Advanced Comp and it feels like 10 steps down from what I was doing--it's like learning how to annotate and write an essay. Really boring, unengaged teacher too! AP Lit teach reputedly has an amazing teacher. But I would have to read the Iliad in like two days! Should I go for the hard class to get a more interesting and engaging teacher? Thanks!

  1. Here are the pros and cons for both:

    Boring Class

Pros: Very easy, quick A, less studying, more free

Cons: Boring, poor teaching, less engagment to subject

    Hard class

Pros: Teacher with passion, the extra studying prepares you for college, not boring maybe fun

Cons: Hard tests (unless if you study), challenges, overworked feeling

I think you should go for the hard class. I mean, it prepares you for college and as long as you study and keep up with it, you should be fine :) Good luck!

  2. I would definitely change classes.  You want your senior year to be good, and taking a class you hate with a sucky teacher may ruin the year.  Even if the class is harder, the teacher will make it great, and you will learn a lot.  Start reading the Illiad now, use Cliff Notes and online resources, and you can catch up.  It will be worth it!
