  1. If you like the sciences or research, German is the thing to take. If you lean more toward social work or interacting with the public, especially in the south or west of the USA, you need Spanish. Spanish is much easier, but German has a lot of words that are similar to English. Spanish is more widely spoken and is very similar to French, Italian, Portuguese, and Latin. German is similar to Norwegian, Danish, and Swedish, none of which are as widely spoken in the world today as English or Spanish.

  2. Spanish is more likely to be helpful to you in a future career (it's true that a lot of people in the US speak Spanish).  If you really want to take German, think about how you could use it in the future.  Do you want to travel to Germany, be a foreign exchange student, or have a career abroad?  If so, go ahead and take German.

  3. german... its easy to learn... i know a little bit of german, du is you, me is mich and i is ich and (is) is ist, the only different thing is that you have to use ä, ë, ï, ö, ü and ß the  ÃƒÂƒÃ‚Ÿ=SS or ss. i would choos german.

  4. If you plan on getting a job in teaching or almost anything in public service , then take Spanish . That will assure you of a job in the US today because there is such an influx of Hispanics into our world that we need so many two language people especially English/Spanish .

  5. You should take Spanish because more people speak spanish than they do German (in the US). And your friend's right. It will help you when you get a job.

  6. In high school take Spanish...when you get to college, take German. The fundamentals that you get in Spanish will help when you attempt German. Yes, Spanish will help in the job force, but German will help when you try for a higher level job.

  7. The easiest language to learn is the language you love. The hardest is the language you hate. I'm taking German because I've always had an intense dislike for Spanish, and Spanish is spoken too quickly for me to keep up. Spanish is more helpful for jobs in the US though, but take which ever one you want. It's better to have an A in a German class than a C in a Spanish class.

  8. GERMAN! It's freakin awesome! :D Plus, Spanish is one of those languages that are really easy to pick up on (especially compared to German), so all you have to do is move to a primarily spanish-speaking apartment, like I did, and you will be fluent in no time! :D

  9. I agree with the people you talked to. You have a better chance of going to  Mexico then Germany, plus Mexicans are coming over to the United States with no English knowledge.

  10. It depends what you want to do with your life.  Spanish is definitely used a lot more in the US, but it depends what state you are in too.  You can take either now and learn the other one later, too.  It's not a "be all and end all" decision.  It's up to you in the end of the day.

  11. I agree with what others are telling you..  Over half of the U.S population is Hispanic, and it's a good thing for when you apply for jobs..  a lot of empolyers like to see that you speak spanish... Unless you plan on going abroad, how often will you speak German?

  12. As much as german would be fun, I think you will need and use spanish way more, trust me. And it is really easy, too, and a lot of people speak spanish like everywhere! Trust me, i had been taking spanish since kindergarten, it was required in my school. But spanish at my school got pretty boring, but that's just me. But i do think german would be a lot more fun, but i don't know, maybe just pick which ever one you think you would enjoy more, because then you will most likely do better.
