Hi everyone, I'm going to be a ninth grader this year and I can't choose between two electives. I'm either going to take introduction to marketing or accounting. I really have no idea which one to take, so if you guys could give me your opinions on what to choose that would be great. thank you so much!

  1. Well whatever you're going to be in life that is what you should take. If you are going to work for a business or bank take accounting but if you are going to be in the entertainment business or designing etc. take marketing.

  2. I'm surprised they offer those types of courses that early - I couldn;t take bookkeeping until 11th & 12th grade - everything I learned in 2 yrs of HS bookkeeping classes was covered on the first midterm in my first college Accounting course - take both if you are  allowed to - not necessarily at the same time

  3. If you don't like math or money numbers, don't take accounting.  I didn't mind math or money, but for some reason I wasn't good at accounting.  I like more creative, social stuff, so I was drawn towards marketing.

  4. Accounting. Basic accounting should be a requirement; it's more relevant to every day life than algebra, geometry and higher level math.  Accounting will always hold you in good stead; even if you don't pursue a job in that area, the skills and concepts are important to any business as well as personal finance. Good luck!
