I shot myself in the finger yesterday by accident with a B-B Rifle and shattered a piece of my bone in my index finger, and my nail also came off. It hurts so bad right now....The doctor said to take one 800mg tablet every 8 hours....I took one and a half tablets one hour ago and the pain is still there....should I take one more?

  1. No, you can overdose on ibuprofen. Give it more time, if the pain is bad enough it could take a little longer to work. It also may not take all the pain away, just take the edge off.

  2. no you shouldn't take more ibuprofen it's not good for your liver. unless it's already been 8 hours call your doc and tell them that it hurts really bad and they should give you something else i'm pretty surprised that they didn't.

  3. No way.  It sounds like you have already taken too much by 400 mg.  Believe it or not, you can O.D. on Ibuprofen and can also cause liver damage with too much.  Do as the other person said and call your Dr.  You may need a different prescription pain med and or something else could be wrong causing this increasing pain, such as infection or blood flow problem.  Call NOW!

  4. never take more than the stated dose, i had a finger injury once so bad i couldnt get to sleep (cut the top of thumb off with garden shears) the hospital injected a ring of anethestic around base of thumb then brushed the wound with iodine, apparently the sting from iodine will make you hit the ceiling or so i was told) after that they gave me some anesthetic cream to rub in, it wasnt a pain killer just anethestic cream and it numbed the area. vallium is very good for pain (diazepam) but some people are against it because its addictive after a long time, doc prescribed me 5mg x (20 tabs). it was also good stuff, look it up on the web

  5. if u r in pain yes.

i mean , tht is wht they r for. right?

  6. Oh poor you, I know how pain feels I had a broken shoulder .. Why  don't you call your Dr and tell him you are still in a lot of pain..He may prescribe something different for you...Feel better..bd

  7. just bump it up to two, and then if the pain hasn't gone away, go back to the hospital or wherever :)
