My year-old kitty started sneezing excessively a few days ago and his left eye is seeping a little bit. Does he just have a cold? Should I take him into the vet? We adopted a stray a couple weeks ago but I took him to the vet the day after we got him and they said he was perfectly healthy.

  1. YEAH TAKE IT TO THE VET! BEFORE SOMETHING WORSE HAPPENS

  2. call the vet and then tell them about it and then do wat they say.

  3. You might want to take him to the vet.  Colds can turn into respiratory infections and those are dangerous to a kitty.  Vets will know what is best.  Also, if the stray wasn't showing any symptoms before, he might show them later, if he gave the cold to your other cat.

  4. My 8 year old cat, Sadie, had the same symptoms last week. We thoought it was a cold too, but it was sinus problems. The vet said it was perfectly normal for pets to have sinus problems around this time of the year. He just prescribed a medicine and she is better already! But you should certainly take him too the vet ASAP. You don't want him feeling miserable!

  5. yes!!

  6. I'm guessing that your stray kitty probably had a herpes virus (that most stray cats/cats at the spca have). When I first adopted my second kitten she was sneezing and had a blocked nose and had gooey tears in the corner of her eyes, but it was just from this virus. There was no way to fix it except to let it pass. They will always have the virus but it will probably lie dormant until they are under stress. Perhaps your year-old cat is stressed at having a new kitty around and started having these symptoms? He may have already had the virus or perhaps the new kitty passed it on to him. Just in case (better safe than sorry) you should probably bring him to the vet, but I think this is probably what's going on.

  7. Have your cats been innoculated? I would certainly take your cat to the vet, it could be a cold or chest infection, and need a course of antibiotics. Or it could be the start of cat flu. Personally, i would take him just to put your mind at rest. The other cat may of been harbouring something that the vet didn't see at the time. hopefully, your cat just has a cold/infection, and will be on the mend after a course of antibiotics :) Good luck!

  8. yes, take him to the vet.
