Here are the details:

I really want to go to Penn State or Boston University. My SATs weren't too good..my highest is an 1170/1600 or 1770/2400, after taking the test twice. However, on my ACT i scored a composite of 28. My GPA is a 4.1 out of 4.6 and I am really involved in school, extra curricular wise. My parents and my guidance counselor want me to take the ACT again because my SATs are low so they figure that if I boost my ACT to a 30 I'll have an easier time getting into colleges. Help?!

  1. no ur fine! my friends got into BU with 1600 SAT 3.0 GP

  2. Well you have a pretty good GPA, however your scores are right now borderline for those schools, a 30 on the ACT would almost certainly give you a good chance for those schools and many other more selective schools, if you feel you can do better then go for it, it can't hurt.

  3. I think with a 28 ACT you'll be perfectly fine.  But if you want to increase your chances of getting accepted, focus on your essays.  If you show passion in your essays and dedication in your clubs and activities, you'll have good chances.

  4. 28 is good but just to be safe than sorry I would say take it again. I did. Good luck! Get a waiver too ok

  5. Anything regarding the ACT, I'd tell you to retake it. You can choose to send the best score unlike the SATs for the class of 2009 where you have to send all scores. Try one more time--it can't hurt. Just study your weakest parts and try for that 30. Your GPA is good; usually schools say that they only consider the highest between SAT and ACT, but they do see all scores. So just concentrate on one more test and keep up the extracurriculars.

    Hope this helps.
