Should I take the PSAT, SAT, and ACT this year?

I'm planning on attending college and this is my junior year of high school. I'm only in Geometry because I failed Algebra 1. Should I wait until next year when I had some Algebra 2 or should I take these tests this year? Would colleges look at both scores or just the highest?

  1. Take the SAT

the math portion you should do okay in if you've taken algebra and geometry. You probably won't get ALL if it if you havent taken algebra 2

oh and the english isn't too bad either.

I took it this year to see if i could qualify for dual-enrolling at college. I'm a sophomore.

    I passed.

I took the ACT as well...didn't do so well on that one. lol

  2. take em all

  3. I was supposed to take the SAT, but accidentally slept in.

Then I went to community college and am now leading a happy and full life.

    True story.

  4. Yeah bc u can retake those test as many times as u need. But the PSAT is the practice test for SAT so take them both seriously and take classes or get books to help you on it.

  5. Technically you should wait, but from personal experience it's great to have some practice considering you can take these tests however many times you'd like. I would go for it, if it's too hard or your unhappy with your score, then try again! Hakuna matata and good luck!

  6. If you're going to take the PSAT, you definitely need to do it this year.  The only point to the test other than practice for the real thing is to see whether you qualify for National Merit, and you're only eligible for that junior year.

As for the other tests, you do need a working knowledge of basic algebra and geometry to get a good score.  On the other hand, you don't really want to wait until the last minute if you can help it, either, especially if you've got essays and other parts of the application process to worry about.  You can take the test up to three times before schools start thinking you've overdone it, and most of them will look at your highest score for each section overall, so it might be worth trying later in the year if you feel ready.
