  1. YES!!!

Speak up and stick up for yourself!

  2. a lot of businesses like to keep it confidential for this reason. maybe your assistant is just pulling your leg.

  3. No! If I were the boss, I wouldn't see you in good light after that... even if I gave you a raise.

  4. I first have to ask how you came to find out how much your co-worker received as an increase?

Normally, this is confidential, so approaching your boss in this case could create more problems.  However, if you found out because of your involvement in the wage process or because your co-worker told you, then I would most definitely approach your boss and express your concern.

Take into consideration also, that even though your assistant received a higher raise, do they earn more money than you?

  5. You should ask for a raise. But you shouldn't say its because your assistant makes more than you. You should point out all the great things you've been accomplishing and why you think that you deserve a raise

  6. This is a multi faceted answer..First are you working to your potential? Does your boss maybe feel your not dedicated to your position,,or maybe have reached your potential? Before you run to the boss and ask why,,you need to examine YOUR performance..Secondly,,You can't KNOW what the boss has in mind for either of you,nor can you question his decisions..Everyone working today is hired ''At Will", meaning at the pleasure of the employer..The days of UNION protection We The People have given away to the owners of Business!!The wisest move you can make is to do your job as best you can,,and take a wait and see attitude to see what comes next .. If your situation is the same in six months ,,and I truthfully think,,you will have the answers to all of your questions before that,,Then on the merit of your performance,,you can approach your boss for and increase!!  Based of course on your performance,,and NOT on the fact your junior received a raise.. And finally,,your boss may have in mind to have  Two comptrollers,,and his reasoning is to take some of the work you now do and increase you responsibilities,,or just make your job a little easier.. All questions with variable  answers..To go to the boss with a "My junior got a bigger raise than me" , is a very foolish move !! Just bide your time,,and excel at your position.!!  Good Luck !!  SOLOMON
