  1. I think it would be such a wonderful and unique experience. Because you could travel, meet new people, and help people all at the same time. I recommend it for sure. My friend is currently in china teaching English. She loves it and always talks about how rewarding it is. She has enjoyed it so much and learned alot about their culture. She has just renewed her contract for another year.

  2. Well, in Peru there are more interesting to study English because it is important to travel, to job and study (MBA). Peru is a nice country with a lot of ancient cultures and natural places that you like know. Welcome to Peru ;-)

  3. Well, it all depends on your life. I think living in another country is a great experience, but it all depends on what's going on in your life. It does take a lot of sacrifice, and you'll not get to see most of your friends and family. Just be aware of that, and I'm sure you'll make the right decision for you!

  4. ARE YOU PERUVIAN?... HAVE YOU VISITED PERU? IF YOU HAVE I SAY GO FOR IT, BUT IF YOU HAVEN'T...PLEASE, PLEASE VISIT PERU FIRST. I LOVE PERU AND I'VE BEEN IN PIURA A BUNCH OF TIMES BUT SOME TIMES THERE IS NOTHING TO DO IN THE CITY.AND TI TENDS TO GET EXTREMELY BORING. GOOD LUCK WITH THE TEACHING AND IF YOU GO LET KNOW I'M PLANING ON GOING SOON.

  5. i would say - go for it - English is a language that i used world wide.  so you can't go wrong with it.

however the pay there may not be great.

  6. Peru is a great country with great people and a great culture.

    I say go for it

  7. Go for it -- this might be the only time in your life you get to experience suce an adventure.  People rarely regret the things they have tried -- it's only the risks people don't take that make them wonder what could have been.

  8. I've been here for what seems like forever teaching English.  The lowdown is that unless you have experience, a license in teaching and connections, you'll be making about 500 USD a month.  If you want culture and people, Peru's great, but if you're concerened abnout money, forget it.

  9. If you haven't already visited, you should try visiting for a couple of weeks beforehand. I studied abroad in Mexico & the girl I housed with loved it so much she moved to teach Spanish after she graduated.

  10. yes.

  11. Piura is like a small city in Peru and has a surf city called Mancora,(www.vivamancora.com)  you will like it but you can get bored after a while unless you are a soul-surfer or become one. I would teach in Piura for some time and then Lima or Cuzco. I think you would like Cuzco more than Piura. Anyways, there are lots of people from the US and Europe living in Piura, I think if you go to "restaurants" on the link I provided, you would be able to contact them, many are either backpackers or business owners (hotels and restaurants).

Either way GO FOR IT!!! Peruvian people are amazing!!

but the pay won't be much UNLESS you target the private sector like the best private Catholic schools and universities as the pay well and private tutoring too. (In Lima)

But you won't make much as the US but the cost of living will be less too......I would go for it and take the opportunity ......you won't have another one later. What you have to loose?
