Should I tell people my windows Vista Ultimate Sku #?

I want to sell my copy of this operating system but someone is curious about the SKU#. I saw on other auctions, they don't post it, I was wondering if I should post the SKU#?

There are some numbers you can give, and some you can't. A SKU is actually fine to give out, since every single Vista will have the same one, and you can't do anything with it.

Thing is, you want to make sure you're talking about a SKU here. That is the number that is below the bar code on the box. If your copy came with your computer, you don't have a SKU as a SKU is only on products that are licensed and packed for individual sale.

You do NOT want to give out your activation code or serial number. Both of those are unique, and required for licensing.

The SKU can help someone identify exactly which version you are selling though, which may be why they are curious.

I don't know for sure what you are asking. If you are talking about the key-code that you have to enter on installation, then ABSOLUTELY NOT. Giving this out is basically handing it over. All they have to do is nab a Vista CD and they have stolen the item you are trying to sell.

If they are asking about the SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) that the store keeps tabs on them with, then it can't hurt. I don't see any reason you should have to give this tho...it is basically how a store keeps track of what they need to order, so if you aren't running a major business it should be irrelevant. The SKU just determines what product it is by the bar code.

It can't hurt to give out an SKU but I really don't see why it is necessary. Just make absolute sure they are not trying to get your Vista Cd-key. That would be a scam

Don't give it to them. If you do sell your copy to this person the key code should be enough to activate it on thier computer.
