Question:

Should I tell the comapany I work for about a dishonest employee?

I work for a job that you need a drivers licence and insurance for.

One of the guys dose not have either one.

Do I tell them about that?

Also, if he got into an accident, could the other person sue the employer for not checking to see if he had both?

  1. jons, yes. The company could be liable for damages in the millions if this employee was in a serious accident resulting in massive property damage or death, even if he was not at fault.

    Yes, the employer would definitely be sued. In fact, that would be the "deep pockets" the attorneys dream of, even if the judgment bankrupts the business and puts you all out of work.

    Yes, the guy is going to be angry about it--but maybe he could get his job back as soon as he complies.


  2. I believe the company you work for could be sued.  I also believe you have an ethical responsibility to report any wrong doing that might affect the company.

    Be sure you are correct and document what you do.

  3. Yes, you would definitely want to tell your employer about that.  Not doing so could adversely affect you, as well as the employer and the employee in question.

    There are several laws to protect you (and most employers have procedures in place to protect "whistle blowers."

    As for what would happen if the employee got into an accident, that would be determinate on several variables, including the state and local laws.
