Should I text him? Or is this too much?

Went on a date with this one guy and it went well. But we haven't gone on a second date because his schedule has been crazy and then he was in the hospital for almost a week. He sent me a text message "just saying hi" and to see how things were doing. I wrote that was going to call him tonight, so I did. But he didn't pick up. I left a message saying that I hope he feels better.

Since I called him an hour ago, would it be too much if I send him a text message asking to treat him to some ice cream sometime this week for his birthday?

If you don't want to wait, text him sooner than later, otherwise itll seem like you waited all day long for a call back-

I'd wait and see if he answers your message an hour isn't very long,give him more time.

I don't see where it would hurt anything.  

Worst case scenario is that he rejects you.  If that's going to happen it's going to happen.  You reminding him you care can't hurt and may be a good way to keep things going.

So I say go for it.

if he doesn't respond to your voice mail, then text him at least five hours from now, if not tomorrow.

that's the amount of time I would wait.

I think it's a little too much. Try not to overwhelm him. Guys are like dogs sometimes, you chase after them and they run away, but you run away from them and they go after you. Haha. Just wait like 2 more hours and if he doesn't call you back then you can send it.

I'd say wait til tommorrow evening that way you'll give him time to reply and you've given him enough time to reply.
