Question:

Should I tip a hairstylist using me for practice?

I was asked by a hair stylist to be her hair model. She said she would style it if I had a special occasion, which i do. She will be practicing some looks she will be using for an upcoming event she is styling. This benefits us both, but should I also give her a tip?

Thanks!

  1. NO - you are allowing her the privilege of practicing on your hair.

  2. Simple answer for you is yes.  You do tip.  The reasoning is this.  She will remember that you tipped her for a free service and she will give you even better service in the future.  It's the same sort of principle you use at a bar.  If you tip the bartender well right from the start, especially if given a free drink, and every future time you go to the same bartender, your drinks will be better and you will have faster service

Basically, if you take care of the ones you are paying for a service, they will do their best to give you even better service.

  3. Yes, I think you should since the service is free.  It would be the proper thing to do.

  4. Yes it would be nice and show consideration and manners.

  5. Yes, I would think that you should tip her.  Look at it this way. You were probably going to get  your hair done for the event you are attending anyways and would have to pay for it plus tip the stylist. Well, this way,  you are getting the up-do for free so just tip the stylist.

  6. Yes, tip her.  You are taking up her time and she's doing you a favor.  TIPS = to insure prompt service.  Unless you'll never need her again. The service free, the tip is a nice gesture and a great way to have her say yes again.  Call around, find out out much this would normally cost and give her a ten to twenty percent tip.
