The waiter just gets you drinks and brings you the check, but doesn't take your order or bring you food obviously. If I should tip, how much?

  1. Yes....still tip at least 15%..the server doesnt bring your food...but they roll the silver, clear the plates..bus the tables..etc.etc...

I wouldnt tip tons at a buffet...but the server is still only making 3.65 an hour.

  2. $1 dollar per person eating....

  3. You don't have to tip.  Just don't mind when the waiter spits in your drink next time.

Otherwise, I'd give him $2 + $1 for every person at the table.

  4. depends if u really like the waiter

    is it good service?

does the waiter forget about you?

    is he/she rude?

  5. You can tip them whatever you want.15 % of the bill is the rule of thumb.

  6. It is not necessary to tip at a buffet, but you certainly can. The usual 10 to 20 percent.

  7. I dont think a tip is neccesary unless the food and people are Ah-mazing X10

  8. Yes you should tip.  Who do you think cleans you table every time you go up to get another order the server fairies?  They don't JUST get your drinks and check.  As a former server for at buffet time the tips were lousy.  These people work for below the minimum wage and rely on tips to survive.  Many people don't realize how difficult it is to serve at buffets.  Many servers are also in charge of keeping the buffet table clean and well stocked as well.  It is just as difficult to work a buffet line as it is to wait tables for the servers.  I am not trying to let in to you it is just frustrating to hear people refer to their job as JUST serving drinks and giving a check.  I would have thought the same if I hadn't done it for work.

  9. They clean up your messes

1 dollar per person who eat

  10. A dollar or two per person.

  11. sure, but dont tip alot, just 1-3 bucks

  12. Remember that he splits his check with the guy who cleans up your table so yea tip him a little.  Not a full tip though. 5%

  13. The only thing they are not doing is bringing you your plate...you should tip 15%.

  14. I will give tips to chef the preparing fresh food on the buffet counter.  Gas prices to high to afford eating out.

  15. I tip 1.00 per person, but if they are exceptionally good...i'll leave a little more.

  16. I always just tipped for the drinks--small percentage since the drinks don't cost a lot. Don't know if it is correct, but that's what I do.

  17. I work at a buffet style restaurant and I say absolutely yes tip! At an al you can eat place, they are contantly clearing your plates, getting you new ones, bringing you drinks, cleaning up after you and your messy children, al the while making about 3 bucks an hour. They depend on tips, especially if you consider all the side work they have to do...they are often there 2+ hours after the restaurant closes cleaning cough gaurds and sweeping...they don't make anything but their hourly during this time. Also, consider whether or not the restaurant has a silverware roller (this is what I do) Servers have to pay the roller five dollars each in order to get clean, dry, and rolled silverware...On slow nights, this can often be half your tips for the night.

  18. well if a person comes an asks u wat drink u want then yes if self serve 4 everythin then tip casheer

its rude to not tip or say thank u wen eatin at anyplace :)

  19. Yes because the waiter probably has more duties than that. Plus usually in Asian type places everyone puts the tips together and divides them equally, so in a way its like tipping everyone? I always tip at a Chinese buffet.

  20. I do if they get my drinks.

  21. It's always polite to tip! If you like the place you'll get the best service if you tip!

  22. i usually give them a buck.  I'm sure they don't make a whole lot per hour and most people don't tip

  23. No and I would expect that the waiters there wouldn't expect a tip.

  24. .....a buffett is not routine in the tipping book of thumbs....and personally i prefer to give some to the person who brings drinks....sometimes that person also helps by bringing an extra fork or napkin, when i spill or (freakishly) toss my fork on the floor

....in China, NO TIPPING is allowed, I tried it!

...the waiter was pertified, wanted me to take it back...then the manager chased me down outside and returned my money, saying thank you, thank you....

....so, tipping? depends what country the 'Chinese Buffet' is located in

(i just wanted to show my appreciation for the delicious eye of goat and dog's tail they had 'painstakingly prepared' fresh)

  25. If the waitresses who pick up your soiled dishes and fill up your iced tea has been up to par then a tip is a good idea.  These people spend a lot of time on their feet and probably don't make minimum wage which in most places is not required for food service employees.

    .

Some say T I P stands for To Insure Promptness.  Chances are if you tip these people they will give you prompt service the next time you dine there.

    .

  26. i worked at a chinese buffet resturant before and when i hate cleaning the amount of dishes but when i pick up the plates it is great to find a tip and split it at the end of the day for a drink ;)

  27. If you want to tip, you can leave about 2 - 3 dollars.

    My family tips 'cause we're nice. >__>;

  28. 1 dollar per person eating, or if it is only two people then like $3.00 or only one then like 2

  29. yea at least a dollar or 2 they may not have to wait on you but they still gotta clean up after you

  30. dont... when they buy stuff, cars, electronics, etc, they grind you for hours, they will leave over 25 cents. thats 99.9% of asians.... Stop giving them tips and maybe they will become better people. we loose money to make deals.....

  31. Idk. But tips are usually included in the check at buffet places
