Should I tip?

When I have food delivered to my house, should I tip the delivery person when there was already a delivery fee? If so, should it be the standard 15-20%?

Doctors are notoriously cheap.  Yes, you worked long and hard to get where you are.  But the delivery fellow is working even harder for NO future payout.

Well, if you delivered food to peoples' houses all day, would you like extra money for it? Of course.

A delivery fee is something you have to do. A little tip would be nice. The fee doesn't go to the delivery man who is actually bringing you something as a favor.

But if you really need the money, then it's okay. But if not, a 15%-20% tip would be appropriote.

I think the drivers appreciate the tip greatly... they are, largely, considered tipped employees, meaning that they can get paid alot less than normal employees... tipped minimum wage is around $4/hour... they probably get a good $8/hour, though.

I know that Pizza Hut stopped delivering to my dorm because people didn't tip well enough.

The delivery fee goes to the restaurant so that they can make money on the delivery.

I tip 20% when I get delivery. Sometimes a little more if the food is cheaper (ie: the bill is $15.24) I will just tell them to keep the change out of a $20.

Drivers depend on tips,   I always tip a few dollars even if it was for one $10 pizza. Now I am likely to tip a little more considering the price of gas. The delivery fee isn't going into their pockets, but I am sure it helps pay their salaries. I used to deliver pizza with an ex-boyfriend when he was in college. Generally, people were very generous. My take on it is this. When I can't afford to give a delivery person a good tip, I will know I can't afford take-out.

well you should tip because if the driver drives to your house they need to spend money on gas and you know how gas is expensive these days   like 2-5$ .

I was told that the delivery fee is to cover the packaging material, it does not go to the driver.  The driver does get some sort of compensation for gas (but its not very much).  I always give the driver a tip.

Yes, tip the Pizza Guy, or any food delivery guy that comes to your house.  The delivery fee goes to the restaurant, not to the driver.  Restaurants are cheap to their employees and many rely on tips.

You can tip when having food delivered but the delivery fee is their tip. If you notice that there is no delivery fee definately tip.

Always. Keeps them from spitting in my food the next time they deliver! Also, have you ever ordered in when it's pouring rain outside? Delivery drivers deserve the tip - 15-20%. - especially now with the price of gas that their employers don't reimburse.

i wouldn't tip if they already charged you for delivery. if they don't charge for delivery then i tip generously

my boyfriend works for a pizza place and he says that the actual delivery charge is for packaging and maintaning the cases that they carry the pizza in and he gets like 25 percent of that as well as 100 percent of his tips. I know that because gas is so expensive now i would give the 20 percent. Even before i started dating him i always gave the 20 percent because this is a person's job. They are working hard so why not?!!?

Why WOULDN'T you tip?  They are saving you from going out and getting it, the driver is bringing you your order.

ALWAYS tip the minimum 15-20%.
