Should I toss out my broken blender?

I've had a $40 blender for several years now that I really like, but I think I burned out the motor when it was having trouble with some ice cubes (no margaritas for me). I smelled a slight burning smell and then it just stopped working completely. Is there any reason to keep it, like getting it repaired? Or should I just throw it away?

This is a disposable society.  It breaks, you toss it.  Unless you know someone who's crafty with this type thing...

Chances are, the parts you need will cost more than a new blender.

even a simple repair is probably not worth saving it, due

to cost and parts availability. toss it!

I think you should repair it. it is better to lose a few dollars then lose a lot buying a new one.

Toss it. Good blenders are everywhere and less than $40. Hurry. the margaritas are waiting...

lol just get another one unless you are having trouble with your job, a new one will last you probably double that one's life

I would just throw it away. Because the money that you use to repair it, can just be used to buy a new blender!

I would imagine it would cost as much or more to have it repaired than to just buy a new one.  IF you can even find someone to repair it.

A repair tech is entitled to charge more than $40/Hr. for his time,

(shop + tech.).

It's cheaper to buy a new unit.

If you are a technical guy, you can take out the motor and make something... or you could take it apart and sell all the pieces... possibly for more money. :-)
