The relievers on my team are:

Jenks,

Rafael Soriano

Mike Gonzales

Billy Wagner

Other starters are

Felix Hernandez

Edinson Volquez

Jorge Campillo

Roy Halladay

Pedro Martinez

Darrell Rasner

The pitching stats in my league are - wins, losses, saves, strikeouts, era, whip

I would be getting Sherrill.

  1. I say yes.  I don't see Shields doing that well from this point on and Saves are always a precious commodity.l

  2. I wouldn't make that deal. Nothing against Sherrill, who's had a great year to this point, but I too have Shields on my team and what I've seen is a pitcher beginning to blossom. Someone earlier said saves are at a premium which is true enough but wins are an even more precious commodity and Shields, on a very good Tampa team, fits that bill. Ask yourself this in pondering the trade: who's more likely to slump from this point forward, the Orioles or the Rays? Your answer to that question will tell you whether or not to make the deal.

  3. Honestly I wouldn't. Wagner and Jenks are pretty solid closers and Gonzalez looks to be the Braves closer for now. Hernandez and Volquez are good, but may wear down in the stretch. Rasner and Campillo are still unproven. Halladay and Pedro are known to get injured more often than not.  Definitely keep Shields.

  4. I would wait to see how Gonzales does in the closer role before making this trade. Shields is going to be a valuable part of your team as Volquez racks up innings pitched and will likely drop off (I'm assuming he's been carrying you in pitching stats). Rasner and Campillo are just short-term options. Pedro could get hurt again at any time and hasn't shown any signs of brilliance yet. Good luck!
