Question:

Should I trade Roddy White and Fred Taylor away to get Brandon Marshall?

I am in a 16 team league so it is very deep and it seems like high end talent is going to be what counts. We play 3WR, 2RB, and a Flex WR/TE. Here is my team after the trade I just made (Traded Mendenhall and Javon Walker for Steve Smith, so I am already losing out on a suspended player)

QB - Drew Brees

WR1 - Steve Smith

WR2 - Roddy White

WR3 - James Hardy

RB1 - Steven Jackson

RB2 - Michael Turner

TE - Alge Crumpler

W/R - Justin Fargas

BN - Ray Rice

BN - Fred Taylor

BN - Felix Jones

BN - Mark Clayton

BN - Kyle Orton

BN - Tim Hightower

K - Josh Scobee

DEF - Washington

Any other tips will be appreciated - how did I do on the Steve Smith trade... seems like I got a steal to me.

  1. I would do it.

    You're trading a bencher+starter for someone elses' better starter;

which is a way to build a power house!(I've done it 3 times this year

acquiring Brady,Gore, and Houshmendzada.) Marshall is rated in the top 10 recievers from most of my sources,so it will be a huge

jump in talent from Roddy (Whose touches should dwindle under new run orientated O'coordinator M.Malarky.)..Plus Fred Taylor is very injury prone.I wouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger, and just hope for the best during the suspensions.~~G{}{}d Luck!

  2. first of all, horrible trade....dont mean to sound harsh, but i really dont like steve smith...suspension and all.  and with delhomme coming back after surgery, there are a lot of question marks.  however, i do think you should make the trade for marshall.  he is going to have a big year.  opposite him is starting rookie eddie royal, who should open things up for marshall, as he is bound to be seeing tighter coverage after last years breakout campaign.  you need help at wr, although i do like hardy who is starting in denver and should be a nice compliment for lee evans if he can adapt to the nfl.  taylor is expendable as mjd is up and coming and is likely to have an even more increased load this year.  you have a nice o 1-2 punch in sjax and turner, and jones, hightower, and rice should all be fine for bye week replacements.  they all have tremendous upside.  fargas is nice too, as he should play quite a bit since he inked a nice deal in the off season.  white has a rookie qb in atlanta and that doesnt bode well, although i am high on him and with turner and norwood, i think atlanta's offense could surprise.  orton is a horrible backup, so hopefully brees does not go down, but orton should be sufficient for a one week bye fill-in.  crumpler is a risky tightend in my book, but he may have a comeback year.  overall i like your team, however, the marshall trade is a good one and well worth the value he will bring to you team...hope this helps.

  3. I would hold out on this trade til tuesday. This way you can get Marshall during his first week. If you only have a few days to do this trad do it no doubt.

  4. yea i would do it on tuesday as well if possible. since marshall and smith are both suspended, you would probably be out of a win week 1. but if he wants to hurry up and make the trade, go ahead and do it. brandon marshall is gonna do it big this year. ill say top 5 wr's.
