Question:

Should I trade Steve Smith for Willis McGahee?

Our league is allowed 6 keepers and only 2 at each position. I need another running back because my only good one is Clinton Portis. If I trade away Smith, though, I will have some shaky wide receivers. My keepers at this point are:

QB: Peyton Manning

RB: Clinton Portis, ???

WR: Steve Smith, Greg Jennings

DEF: San Diego

My other Wide Receivers are Dwayne Bowe, Kevin Curtis and Ronald Curry. So is trading away my only elite receiver worth the risk or should I try to get a RB of lesser value?

  1. DO NOT TRADE AWAY STEVE SMITH. He gets back a healthy Jake Delhomme. Do you remember what  life was like before Jake got hurt? They were having serious numbers. Running backs are a dime a dozen. You can find another back in free agency. With rookies like Ryan Torain who will be in a Denver system or you can get a back who will split time like Jerious Norwood or Earnest Graham. I might get rid of Ronald Curry and pick up a receiver who will be just a end zone threat like James hardy out in Buffalo or Malcolm Kelly or even Mike Jenkins with the Falcons. McGahee will get more carries but he will most likely get hurt because the Ravens dont have a QB. Look at teams with those 2 running backs situations. Rashard Mendenhall is a great example because the Steelers finally have that power back they needed to run their system. Dont give up Steve because you can always find a runningback at anytime in free agency.

  2. I agree with the general consensus:  DON'T TRADE SMITH!  Delhomme will be healthy this year and Smith will have help in the form of Muhammed and D.J Hackett drawing the attention of defensive backs.  Smith should have a great year and with the offensive additions, should improve tremendously on last year's numbers.
