Should I travel to Cancun with Baby?

I have a 14 month old and I have been given the choice to either leave him with grandma or take him to Cancun with us. I am hesitant to do either. I want him with me on the trip but am afraid to take him along because he will be limited to what he can do I think? I don't know what to do. Has anyone traveled with a baby this age alone with baby hubby and mommy only? I would really like to know if there are play places gymboree, chuck e cheese etc... in Cancun. Believe it or not I have been there over 5 times but since I never had a baby I never bothered to pay attention to these details.

  1. Estel.,No !Please dont take your baby, you dont have clean water unless you have bottled water,Bugs are more intense and dangerous, foods and stuff are more geared for us.The chance of a child getting ring or hook worm is greater.Intestinal viruses etc.

  2. Cancun is mostly a resort town for college kids.  It is not family friendly.  Leave your baby with his grandmother and go have fun.

  3. Take the kid. I have been to Cancun twice it was great. I can see no reason he can't go. If he likes  water he will have a blast!

Don't let him drink the water.

  4. you could go either way

it is nice to have a break with you and hubby

baby is too young to be able to have that much fun / too remember the trip .

if you will stay downtown it is crowded usually not as friendly for the stroller on the roads  .. strollers not good at beach either.  cancun has rough waters, as you recall .. it's not so calm / lots of waves / easy to get pulled into water.

i can't see baby being happy on beach / also their skin is sensitive  ..

i think it is hard to leave a little one at home ... but parents don't often get those kinds of breaks / need to make time for each other too.  it's a generous offer by grandma!  i think i would take it ... especially if trip is not too long.

  5. No. Inappropriate and dangerous to take a 14 month baby on such a trip. If you have been there over five times you must know the resort basically serves the 18 - 30 year crowd. Taking the baby sounds like a recipe for a miserable time for everyone.

  6. We took our baby to Mazatlan when she was about 14 or 15 months old.  She did fine - toddling around the pool with us and on the beach, in her stroller in town.  I bought bottled/packaged food for her - we didn't give her what we were eating (and a good thing, too, as my husband got really sick on the all-inclusive buffet).  If I had to do it over again, tho, I wouldn't take her.  We were somewhat limited on what we could do/where we could go.  And with  my  husband sick for a few days, baby and I were kind of on our own...and I wasn't quite comfortable enough at that time to take off alone.  (It was our first trip to MX, I'm far more comofortable now after 11 or 12 trips.)  Plus, she doesn't remember it at all (but likes to look at the photos).  If I had had the option of leaving her with family, I would have done so.

  7. I just returned from Cancun on 10/14 and I could not believe how many babies were at our hotel. There were babies from as young as a few months and their parents seemed to be having a great time. If you are comfortable bring your baby go and have a great time!!

  8. Yes, you will miss your baby but please leave your baby with grandma. A good chance for baby to bond with grandma and a even better chance for you to bond once again with hubby.)

  9. Yes gurl go and have tha time of your life you may never get this chance again...My Dear
