Should I travel to El Salvador with a friend?

I have a friend from El Salvador who wants to take me there on a vacation, but I don't know if it's a good idea. He says it's beautiful and fun to see. But I've traveled to the Philippines so I already know what a third world h**l looks like, and besides, I'm not sure that it's safe. And how great can it be if so many people are desperately trying to leave? But maybe it would be ok as a tourist. Any advice?

  1. Go to el salvador its a nice wonderful place "tequila mejicana" doesn't know what the h**l she is talking about if you never been there you aint got nothing to say so shut your...

El Salvador is a nice beautiful country full of wonderful people. Wikipedia is NOT A RELIABLE WEBSITE OR ENCYCLOPEDIA LIKE "TEQUILA MEJICANA" CAN GO ON THERE AND WRITE WHATEVER THEY WANT. I SAY LOOK UP EL SALVADOR TOURISM SO YOU CAN GET RELIABLE INFORMATION BASED ON FACTS NOT ON JOB LESS PEOPLE THAT HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO DO THAN GO ON WIKIPEDIA AND WRITE THINGS THINKING THEY ARE SMART TO MAKE THEM SELVES FEEL BETTER. IF I WHERE YOU ID GO BELIEVE ME YOU WILL LOVE IT!

  2. el salvador is more than a paradise go and you will see

    by your self

  3. I'm Salvadorian so trust me when I say, Don't go. There is a gang out there,SM13, who has more power than the police mostly because of corrupt cops. I have never actually been there but from all the c**p my cousins have told me and grandmother I would not advise it. The main reason for this is because there revolution happend during the 1990's. If you don't mind that though then its a great place to go.

  4. omg dont even listen to the salvadorian kid who hasnt even been there.  el salvador is a beautiful country. yes its a third  world country (not h**l), but the people there are so welcoming and theres so much to do.  There are many places to go to like costa del sol (beach), cerro verde (mountain).  The country is beautiful and its people would stay there if it wasnt for the fact that the country is economically hurting.  I say you should go.  You wont regret it. stop bein so judgemental

and about the whole gang drama.  its not that big of a deal.  the gangs is the same how it is here.  if you go to nice areas they arent around.  if you go to the "hood" then they are there.  I go there all the time and not once have i had a problem about gangs.

Plus its your friends that's takin you.  He wouldnt try to put your life in danger.  He asked you to come because he knows you will be safe.  So think about it.  I hope you do end up goin

  5. Anyone who would label a country "third world h**l" just because they are poor needs a readjustment in their thinking.  You need to realize that the creature comforts you might be afforded in the US are not available to people in other countries.

You say "And how great can it be if so many people are desperately trying to leave?".  Understand that people don't leave El Salvador because they hate their country, they leave because of economic reasons.  They do it to try and provide a better living and to provide those creature comforts that you take for granted to their families.

El Salvador is an extremely beautiful country.  Warm oceans, a beautiful rain forest, rivers, Mayan ruins, volcanoes, culture.  El Salvador is rich in culture and history.  Please discover it for yourself.

Those who have never lived in the country or visited, have no idea what life in El Salvador is about.  There's also those who have visited an area and have had a bad experience and thus label the entire country as being bad.  That's like visiting NYC, getting mugged, and labeling the entire US as bad.

Yes, the country is poor.  There is crime. There is poverty.  But there is also beauty.  There is kindness.  There's hospitality.  Salvadorans are very welcoming.  They will bring you into their home and give you the best they have.  They will give you their bed and sleep on the floor when you stay with them.

I encourage you to visit El Salvador with an open mind.  How can you judge something before you have experienced it?

If you can't visit with an open mind, I suggest you try a different country.

  6. Your friend is out of it dude. The Philippines is heaven compared to el salvador. anyways el salvador is the most dangerous country in latin america after colombia, brazil and guatemala and even those other 3 countries are bigger and have better things. not even salvatrucha citizens are safe what makes you think as a tourist you will be safe? dont risk it. read on http://www.answers.com about there crime

In the past 15 years El Salvador has experienced a huge rise in gang related crimes, and gangs in general. Some say that this was a result of the deportation of thousands of Salvadorans from the U.S, (mainly California and Texas) in the mid-90s. The gangs that Salvadorans had been involved in the United States began to show up in El Salvador. Today El Salvador experiences some of the highest rates of gang related crimes in the world. In response to this, the government has set up countless programs to try to guide the youth away from gang membership, but so far their efforts have not rendered any quick results.

  7. ES is a great country.  Nice people, pretty girls, good food/beer, cheap prices, good bars, good beaches, all that stuff.

I heartily recommend it.  I've been there several times and always had a blast.

  8. No.

  9. El Salvador is a third world country like the rest of latin america, But san salvador is actually very modern and El Salvador is safe to travel to. If you are worried about the crime you must now crime has drastically gone down the police have been doing there job the MS know that the cops aren't going to let them run around and keep doing what they where doing they got tired of the situation and it is now taken care of. I will not say they don't have them they do just like in any country but they don't go around messing with people anymore they just hide at their homes and when they do go out they usually wear long sleeves so the cops wont arrest them , Because the new law is you got gang tattoos overthere your going to jail and you wont be coming out anytime soon. So El Salvador is pretty safe a nice place to visit people are nice the food is great the women are beautiful and very unlike american women. so i would go its a fun place they got nice beaches but its raining right now so the movie theather, the mall, bars and restaurants.

  10. Don't listen to the girl with a dot as her name and just read like half of what Tequila Mejicana said. I'm Salvadoran, and I have been to El Salvador, now when I had went this one time, there was a lot of mess in the area my dad is from (Metapan, Santa Ana). You already know about the MSX3 and that stuff, but if you go to the nice areas, you won't see them. That gang originates from the most poorest sides of El Salvador. I would say that you go. Your friend probably knows one of the nice sides of the country. I have been to very pretty sides of the country. It's nice. Go. Lol

    P.S.

The girl that said Mexico is worse than El Salvador, do NOT take those words seriously.

  11. Why not? I'm sure that you will find lots of things to do in my country. We have beaches, volcanoes and mountains. Nice people and pretty women. My country is waiting for you. Come and enjoy!

A tip about safety. Any place in the world could be unsafe, even U.S.A. So, take your bags and tell your salvadorean friend to take you to El Salvador.

  12. I think you should defenetly go. El Salvador is a great country full of wonderful people and i am 150% sure that you will love it and you will have a great time. El Salvador is a very modern country and industrialized it has the best malls and airports than any other central american country. you can find info in http://answers.com or just google ElSalvador tourism. Obviously you are a guy and in some tourism websites it says that another thing that brings people to el salvador (i assume mainly guys) is the beauty of their women. So i i where you defenetly would go it's safe enough i mean anywhere you go there is no 100% safe but you will be safe El Salvador is very safe trust me. El Salvador seems to still be getting caught up in the crime part but that is El Salvadors past now its the present and now the country is safe. Good Luck!

  13. I have been to El Salvador and i can tell you it's a nice place nice beaches nice people, there is not other place like it i went 2 years ago I am a tourist from Puerto Rico i can tell you those two countries are very similar i felt so at home. If i were you i would go i can assure you that it will be a blast. San Salvador is a good place to go to it has anything you will ever need its like the U.S. Crime there is crime everywhere in the world i never had anything happen to me at all in El Salvador so i can guarantee you wont have any problems there.

  14. Wow! do you have a lot of preconceived ideas.  First, I didn't realize that the Philippines was considered a 3rd world h**l. Second, I have been to El Salvador several times and yes, it is a very poor country but it's beautiful, the people are really friendly and

third, if you let yourself...... you will have a great time.

The country is called 'the land of volcanos' for a reason - I spent Christmas there two years ago and had a blast with my friends.

  15. I totally agree with Makawoe, it is sad that you don't use your free will and thinking and believe everything that people have to say, why don't you go to google and find out more about El Salvador...
