I went to a pscyhiatrists office but the psychiatrist was on vacation until next week. I saw a nurse practitioner and she prescribed lexapro and klonopin. Should I really trust that?

  1. only if they are a psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and/or has extensive experience in psychiatric field.

  2. It all depends on who you go to. Many nurse practioners know as much as doctors, and they are in medical offices to fill in when docs are on vacation or to assist in busy practices. I am a patient at an office where it is very hard to get appointments with doctors and going as a walk-in you'll sit for hours. So I go to the nurse practioner when I get sick because usually an appointment is available the next day or it's easier to get worked in. They have usually given me effective prescriptions. Do a little research on the meds yourself (you still sometimes need to even with a doc's prescription) and if you don't trust it then get a second opinion.

  3. i work at a pharmacy with an in-store clinic that is operated by nurse practitioners only and have never seen the actual doctor present there.  we've had several bad experiences and complaints from customers about the NPs.  i feel as if they don't know alot about the patient's medical history to be able to prescribe such medications.  however, nurse practitioners are allowed to practice under a licensed doctor, therefore the doctor trusts those NPs, and if it's a situation where they cannot prescribe or further diagnose a problem, then that's where NPs refer the patients to another physician or clinic.

  4. umm..nopee u shouldn't cuzz its not the actual doctor prescription and its safer to have actual..u get wut i mean
