Should I try out for volleyball? Have you felt this before?

I'm going into 9th grade, and volleyball tryouts are on Monday. I've been playing since 4th and I'm pretty good. Not the best, but good enough for me to be confident in making the freshman team. I've been going to open gyms all summer, but honestly, I've dreaded them. For some reason, I just don't like going and I fear the in-season practices will be the same. It's not that I don't like volleyball anymore. I still like to play. It's just, I don't know if I want to play for my hs team. I've tried all summer to figure out what it is I dread about going, and I still haven't pinpointed it. I'm not asking you to make the choice for me, I'm just wondering if anyone has ever felt this way.

  1. i think i will try out, but i dont think i will make it. at least try out because if you love it enough you will enjoy it.if you do not make it, at least you tried.

  2. my tryouts for my high school team are on monday too! do u guys do conditioning before practice? maybe thats what u dread and not volleyball. i would def. tryout if i were u!

  3. I would definitely tryout!

it sounds like you just have some pre-tryout nerves

which is perfectly normal, can be good actually, adrenaline can help you performer better. if you don't like it you can always stop.

and as for they high school thing, high school really isn't that big a deal, i just graduated. trust me. i remember being a freshmen and being really intimidated but try to keep your self grounded and things in perspective, don't let things get bigger in  your head than they really are

also you might regret it later if you don't try out, if you don't try out you only have one option: not be on the team, but if you do tryout you can a.be on the team or b.decide to drop it if you don't like it anymore
