Should I upgrade to Blu-ray with an Infocus X2 SVGA projector?

I have an Infocus X2 SVGA projector that is hooked up to a sony 5-disc upconvert dvd player through HDMI. I was wondering if I purchased a blu-ray player, would I notice any difference in picture quality even though the projector is SVGA? The projector is HDTV compatible.

  1. The catch is that SVGA is 4:3 aspect.  So in order for your projector to upscale the correct width of 16:9, you will loose even more vertical resolution.  So, you MAY notice a slight increase in visual quality due to the superior source; but it will probably be negligible.

That said, since Blue-Ray has won the format war, you can safely upgrade that component now and start saving for your HD projector ;).

    Good Luck!

  2. Does up-conversion makes the picture any better?  If it does - then upgrading to BluRay will be a further improvement (probably using 1080i resolution).
