I have virgin cable/ broadband and phone but have recently upgraded to a 42" 1080p LCD tv. Is it worth me paying extra to get the HD V+ service? How much more will it cost me? What are the benefits? Thanks

  1. With a tv like that you should be trying to watch HD as your SD programmes will not look as good as your old CRTs. Therefore the V+ box could be useful for you. It's relatively cheap compared to Sky as it costs I believe £75 for the box and then depending on your subscription you have already it can be either £5/month or free (if you are on the top package). The problem with the V+ box is that there is not much HD content compared to Sky. There is only, BBC HD, ITV HD (if not now, then soon) and HD movies. Sky on the other hand has 14 HD channels including Sky One HD, Nat. Geo.HD, Discovery Channel HD and the Movies and Sports channels in HD.

The following site gives you some more info. if you are interested about virginmedia and Sky:

    Hope that helps!
