I don't want to use vista yet, so does anybody know the advantages to having pro instead of home edition?

  1. For home use there is no need to upgrade to Pro.

If you really want to know the differences between the two read this:

  2. I'm running XP Pro and it's great

  3. You might struggle getting a copy of it as PC world (UK) no longer sell it, they have moved along with most retailers to Vista.

Ebay has plenty though, but honestly, I wouldn't waste your money,

I know so many people who don't like Vista due to the bugs, but I have had it some time, build websites, and run my own PC repair company www.aufo8mycow.co.uk and like it better than XP but that's personal preferance.

All in all, if you got money to burn, don't waste it on pro.

  4. Vista does suck. However please be advised that Microsoft is discontinuing XP in all formats.

And, they will also stop giving technical support/allowing computer manufacturer's to give tech support for this OS in 2009, I believe.

So it would not be practical, really.

  5. There are not really many advantages. Home is must faster to me. Vista sucks. Wait for the new Windows 7 coming.

  6. Gave Zabalat a thumbs up for that link. You should look at it and see if you want any of the features XP Pro has that you don't have now. A waste of money upgrading if you don't. Funny how so many people whine about Vista when they try to put it in and they don't even know what added features it has. Upgrading an OS "just because" is dumb. Should only upgrade if it benefits you.

  7. well in my opinion vista is a good operating system i used to think vista sucks but when i bought my laptop with vista it is really good. But if u are thinking about windows XP pro i think you should go for it because it is much faster, easier, and simpler.

  8. i just upgraded to windows 98 and it works great.

............been using vista for 2 years on all three of my pc's with no problems.

when the vista OS came out there were some programs that didnt work with it but that is long in the past, every program i use works GREAT with vista so just make the switch and get it over with because in the not to distant future xp will no longer be supported by windows

as far as windows 7............ it has the same look and feel as vista
