Should I upgrade to XP?

Question

I got a computer that came with windows xp home. Then it crshed, and i put windows 2000 on it. Now 2000 is going very slow, and i miss XP. So would windows xp media center edition run good on a

2.4 ghz pentium 4

1.5 gb of ram

64mb video card

40 gb hard drive

so would media center edition run good here, or should i stick with 2000, which keeps on freezing?

I would recommend XP Pro. Media Center edition is really buggy.

Media Center is a version of XP designed to work with specific video hardware.  It is not recommended for non-media center PCs.  

Usually XP will run better then 2000 on a computer. W2000 is designed to give extra security needed for corporations and offices. That extra security makes PCs run slower.

So if you have a copy of XP and a license/activation code for it, I would switch.

You should think of vista. However it is better than XP. But XP is always better than windows 2000.

Purchase an OEM copy of XP Pro and install it.

well i would just put windows xp on it since thats what it came with it

but i you wanna put media center there is not much diference on it, media center is just xp profesional with some extras that will use up hardrive space, i wondered the same thing and i did the change but i did not see much difference on it just that it took more space on my hardrive so i just eneded up switching back to home editon for a while untill i found xp profesional final editon black which i really liked cause runs be stable and looks cool since you can easly change the looks of it to look like vista and act like vista also, it takes less space than home edition and has more stuff to it already install on it like winrar,fire fox, one click image comverter, resource hacker 3.4.0, sync toy, ccleaner and more so just so you know there are more alternatives, and by the way i got all of these on a toshiba satellite laptop with only 1.6 celeron procesor and only 500 mb of ram and a 40 gig hard drive  but running very qiuick and stable, just so you know.
