When connecting Blu-ray player to my receiver via optical digital audio cable, do I also need to connect them via coaxial digital audio cable? Do those cables work together, or is it an either or situation. Reason I ask is because the jacks are right next to each other on my receiver, but with only the optical cable plugged in, I am getting no sound. What do you think? Thanks.

  1. Optical will give you the best quality

  2. One or the other, it won't matter both are digital connections.  You will need to enter the menu for your Blu-ray player and make sure that audio is going out throught the digital connection you have used.  You might need to go into the menu of your receiver and make sure that the input is set for the digital feed.
