Question:

Should I visit Botwana or Tanzania?

Hello community. Is there anyone out there who has visited both Botswana and Tanzania? I've always wanted to visiti Tanzania and climb Mt. Kilimanjaro. I'd have to do this trip with a group though, like REI Adventure Travel. On the other hand, I have a friend who is stationed in Botswana in the Peace Corps. She could take me around and see a bit of Africa on a non-tourist level.

So I need a little advice. Should I see Botwana through the eyes of a good friend? OR should I stick to the plan of visiting Tanzania and climbing Mt Kili? The question really comes down to...how much better is Botwana vs. Tanzania? I hear Botwana safaris are much more expensive than Tanzania safaris...but is the experience worth the extra cost? Is there more wildlife in Botwana than in Tanzania? Is the food better? I'll be going in January or February of 2009. Thanks for your thoughts and help with making a decision on this.

  1. Hi there,

I have not been to Botswana but I have been to Tanzania, I worked in Kenya and Tanzania is just next door.

Kilimanjaro National Park is a wildlife haven, and Amboseli National Park is just a few miles away over the border in Kenya.

No matter which you decide to do, you have chosen a great time of the year.

  2. Been to both. Botswana r more 1st world, but more expensive. Tanz r more interesting but not so easy. Bots have wild live but the rest is boring, u can see all in Tanz. Go to tanzania & klimb Kili
