Question:

Should I visit Sofia, Bulgaria for 1 day on my trip to Istanbul Turkey?

I will be spending a week in Istanbul, and noticing the close proximity to Sofia and the cheap flights I was wondering if I should visit? Is Sofia very expensive for an ok hotel room? Is there a lot to see, and so is one day worth it?

Also do they charge a big tax when entering the country? Will I have to repay the $20 enterance fee for Turkey?

Thanks a million guys!

  2. I don't know about the prices, but I'd go for one day.

  3. One day visit to Sofia is enough.

Personally, I believe everywhere is worth visiting. I'd definitely go and visit Sofia if I were you.

I enjoyed my time in Sofia a few months ago. It's quite a cheap place. Food is delicious and there are some nice buildings in the city center like Alexander Nevinsky Cathedral. Also, visit the Vitosha street when you're there.

    Enjoy your trip.

  4. Yes I was just about to write the same thing, believe me, there is nothing to see or to do in Sofia. It isn't worth the effort.

  5. I regularly visit Turkey on a business trip basis so i can't tell the difference between the hotel rates (because my company pays for the expense). Nonetheless you can check out Taxim Hill Hotel... It's located opposite Ataturk Square. It has a nice view of the city... you'll love it!

(just watch out for the pimps roaming around the area) ;)
