Question:

Should I volunteer for a children's hospital?

I am interested in

1) Working at some type of hospital for my college resume

2) Working with children or helping children indirectly (filing paperwork or whatever...)

Would volunteering at a children's hospital fulfill these requirements? Are there any disadvantages to working at a children's hospital (ex. less positions available)?

  1. If you are looking to volunteer - there are lots of Children's Hospitals that would love to have you. (I work at one).

And there are usually positions in departments you've probably never heard of. It's a great summer internship.

Be aware - you will be required to get/ prove you have had certain immunizations, just like any other Hospital employee. Specifically: MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) and PPD (TB test). There may be others depending on the place you're volunteering.
