Should I wait to buy a new car? ?

I like the large Lexus sedan, but they get relatively lower gas mileage and recommended premium unleaded fuel. But I need a need new car within 1 year. Are there some good options for me in the near future?

  1. I don't see how waiting will help you. It sounds like the large Lexus sedan you're interested in may just be a little too expensive for you.

I would suggest looking at the other sedans they have. They're still nice, but they maybe more affordable for you.

    MSRP: $55,800

    Invoice: $49,104

    MSRP: $53,020

    Invoice: $46,127

    2008 Lexus GS 350

    MSRP: $44,550-$46,500

    Invoice: $39,203-$40,920

    2008 Lexus ES 350

    MSRP: $34,120

    Invoice: $30,253

    2008 Lexus IS 350

    MSRP: $36,305

    Invoice: $31,948

    2008 Lexus IS 250

    MSRP: $30,855-$34,485

    Invoice: $27,151-$30,344

All of them are good cars.

  2. Wait till thay droop

  3. well, if you have a year to wait, then wait a year..you never know when a car company will make a new car, or better yet a car that  has good mileage, is cheap, and is a good car..i would wait.

  4. Lexus might have good resale value (double check - my reference is an old article), so if you're looking for a new Japanese luxury car, that might not be so bad.

The problem is that when a car is thirsty AND it demands premium unleaded, you'll probably grow to resent your own automobile every time the price of gas goes up - regardless of whether you can afford it or not. For me, the smart money says not to bother with thirsty, fussy engines unless you're a true gearhead or feel really passionate about your car.

If I were going to BUY a car in the next year, I would get a comparable vehicle used but still under warranty (no sense in eating the depreciation), and test drive better mileage cars while looking for that "solid" feel that luxury cars give.

  5. Great question.

This is my opinion, Don't but a new car... instead lease it for either 2 or 3 years. the reason I say this is that I believe the car manufactures will come out with MPG around 50 or better, with this you would have a hard time getting rid of a car you buy today. if you lease it you turn it in and go for a different one.

  6. if you want it now get it now

  7. If you can afford a Lexus, why are you worrying about gas mileage and the cost of gasoline? If these are real issues, then get a cheaper car that you can afford and maintain. You will have more peace of mine and more money in your pocket.

  8. Dont laugh when I tell you this...... Get a brand New Mercury Grand Marquis.... I had the big Infinitys, Lexus sedans and after blowing hundreds of thousands of dollars I realized this was stupid.... I buy a Mercury Grand Marquis at 1/3 to 1/4 the costs. I'm in the income bracket where I can write a check for a new one and trade it in every 2 years.... I get to drive a big car with a V8 and still have a fortune left over to pay for gas........
