Question:

Should I wash my PWC engine?

We have 2 new Honda AquaTrax PWC's. A friend of ours told us to spray down the whole engine and inner hull with fresh water as part of our flushing out. Is this a good idea? I know everything is water tight....but it just makes me wonder.

We do use them in salt water.

  1. Yes, after you pull them out of salt water, first flush the water cooling system as explained in your owner's manual.

Next, you need to do a very low pressure rinsing of the engine to remove saltwater off the engine block and other metal components.

Use a wide angle mist instead of a high pressure spray on the engine.  If your PWC does not have a drain plug, the bilge pump should automatically come on if it is a significant amount of water.

Also, try to perform this using the least amount of water required.  This will reduce the chance of water seeping into something where it could cause failure or problems.
