I have recently gotten a red ear slider turtle and my mom and i noticed that its shell its feeling a little..... uh...... slimy. Also Mr. Grumpy Poncho (my tutle) is very picky he will not eat his pellets or lettuce, he will only eat grapes which is becoming very expensive for us. I fear he may be spoiled lol. how can i get him to be less picky?

  1. my turtle is olmost the same as yours. would not eat pellets too. does grape work? would turtles eat grape?

  2. I always wash my turtles with shampoo every saturday, Just be careful with his head. Just keep on throwing the pellets in and he would soon smell it and eat them. Dont feed it grapes anymore he wont starve trust me

  3. You may need a larger filter for his tank or might have to change the water more often. You also should be handling your turtle as little as possible. If you must clean his shell, you can use an old toothbrush.

As far as food goes, try live earthworms, fishes (not goldfish), and soft-bodied insects. When you can't get live food, cut strips of liver and dust them with bonemeal.  BTW, grapes are only about a dollar a pound in my area, if you shop in the right places. The foods I suggested cost more if you buy them.
