Question:

Should I wash my rabbit?

I know in general you shouldn't wash most animals because they clean themselves, but my nearly 1 y/o female minilop has been getting a couple of soft pellets stuck in her fur round her butt and sometimes she just sits in her litter tray then her feet get wee on them and smell (I clean her litter tray everyday). So should I wash her butt with small animal shampoo (I have seen it at the petshop). And if so, what is the best way? bath tub with an inch or so of warm water? Or will that freak her out?

  1. Yeah, that would be just fine, just as long as you use special bunny soap, absolutely no human, or baby soap.

She may panic just a bit, but will be okay, I suggest using a sink, it's sorta easier to clean up, and hold her in..

  2. Dry bath. That's the only way that works with my rabbits without them kicking their backs out. I recommend using a sponge or wet cloth to clean  the dirty parts of your rabbit, and be very careful when using shampoo - rabbits tend to freak out and l**k themselves && the shampoo. Other than that, you can always just snip some fur off; always grows back:)

  3. sink or washcloth

  4. noooo!! dont bathe your rabbit with water. it will ruin her fur. if you really need to give her a bath go to a feed store or a tack store or a pet store and they will have a dry bath that you put on them. they can take care of themselves and will give themselves baths. :D hope i helped.
